As soon as the three bogey tracks crossed the border, all the track files blinked and aged out along a thirty-kilometer radius with that dead spot moving at over one hundred seventy klicks an hour.

The Battle Watch Captain on duty in the ops cell didn’t rattle easily, but in seconds he had the second lieutenant double-timing it down the hall to awaken Joint Special Operations Task Force commander, Major General Nylander. The JSOTF numero uno pulled on a pair of chinos and was in the ops cell when Heaton’s call came through. It wasn’t a happy conversation on either side. Nylander hung up and ordered his people to alert Special Forces Operational Detachment Alpha Team 582: all of them, ASAP.
